Overview:
One of the oldest lighthouses in the state and the only one open to the public, the Port Isabel Lighthouse also happens to be the states smallest National Park. The Lighthouse was built in 1853 to guide ships through Brazos Santiago (south of SPI) and the barrier islands. Recently restored to its 1880s appearance.
Also nearby is a replica of the Keeper's Cottage.

You can climb to the very top for 3.00 per person! It is pretty windy at the top, and there is a pretty good view from there as well. Note - the staircase is not original and is very sturdy, but very steep.
