Overview:
The Island Inn on the beach, better known as the "Wanna Wanna" is a hugely popular beach inn that has always received great word of mouth. Many entertainment mediums have written about the "Wanna Wanna" calling it "where you want to be on South Padre" (Playboy), one of the "23 great Seafood Dives of the coastal U.S." (coastal Living) and MTV chose to use the Inn as their location for a 2003 Spring Break film because of its fun, small and quaint character. Palm-style huts decorate the poolside patio area of the Inn and several tropical murals can be seen on the wall.

The Island Inn has a lively bar and grill between the beach and the patio area--great for watching birds or bikinis! There is also live entertainment every weekend during the Summer nights where you can listen to the music under bright twinkling South Padre stars.

Various room styles are available: Deluxe King (ocean view, kitchenette, 2-4 people), Beachfront King (kitchenette, 1king bed, 2-4 people), Beachfront 2 Doubles (ocean view, kitchenette, 2 double beds, 4 people), Deluxe 2 Doubles (front ocean view, microfridge, 2 double beds, 4 people), Standard 2 Doubles (across street from beach, ocean view, balcony, 2 double beds, microfridge, 4 people), Studio (across street from beach, ocean view, 1 double bed/1queen sofa sleeper), balcony, 4 people), 1 bedroom condo (across street from beach, ocean view, 3 double beds, 1 queen sofa sleeper, balcony, 8 people).

this one is not a good one!!! After traveling 8 1/2 hours with two boys. we got to the Island Inn, now don't get me wrong the girl at the front desk was nice, but I have a 6 yr old who doesn't take showers on top of I was under the impression you could see the ocean from the room no way (a broom closet) It smelt funny in the room. It just wasn't up to par for us.after 2 hrs Of looking we found another place to stay.
